Hello.

I really need some help.

Since OS 5 I am struggling to figure out how to play music directly from my watch to my AirPods.

Switching the source appeared to be much easier in previous software versions. I can’t even find the information on the Apple website.

So, I want to play music from my watch, independently, directly to my AirPods.

I have a non cellular watch, and want to go running with just my watch and AirPods, listening to the music I have previously synced.

I would really appreciate an idiots guide on how to do this. Screenshots would be great. I’m not at all an idiot, but this aspect of the software is very poor in my opinion. Not intuitive at all.

Open the music app on your watch

At the top of the app you’ll see “On iPhone” don’t go in there

Press library

Then choose a song

It will then ask you if you haven’t already connected your AirPods to choose a source as you can’t play music from the Apple Watch speaker
