For no reason what-so-ever, my MB Air M3 has started emitting the 'Radial' alarm sound continuously! I have no alarms set. No reminders set. No video calling or phone calling apps open. Ordinarily, I would beat it to death with a lump hammer - but I've only had it about 4 weeks!

I've checked for stuck keys. I've had console open in the hope that it would show me what's running. I've reset smc, and now I'm at a loss.

Thank you in advance.

@Dog Bone Malone, let me start by being frank: I can't help with your problem. However, the mention of Mad Cow Disease sends me back a lot of years, back to a time around the turn of the century (2000) when Mad Cow Disease was widespread and a hot topic.

At that time, someone put together a sort of animated meme (using today's nomenclature) about Mad Cow Disease that really tickled my funny bone. I downloaded the file and kept it, and I still have it all these years later.

I am not at my Mac right now, but as soon as I am, I will post it here - it is hilarious!

If you have a Time Machine backup I would do a restore from one state. Sounds like a really wonky issue that is probably pretty rare.

What happens if you reboot in Safe Mode?

If the problem goes away, you can follow the other instructions in that article.
Another thing to try - if safe mode works - would be to create a new user account and see whether the issue persists there.

OK, better late than never. Attached is MadCow97.ppt.zip. This is related to the Mad Cow reference I made in my reply above.

It is a PowerPoint presentation with embedded sound files. I had to zip it first - these forums would not allow the attaching of the .ppt version. So, unzip it, open it and click the audio icon on each side of the chart in turn. Enjoy! :)

A quick note. Your mileage MAY vary - I found that this opens just fine in Office 365 and LibreOffice on a modern Mac, but the audio embedding only seems to work in Office 2000 on a PC (Windows 98, WinME, Windows 2000), and perhaps other versions of Windows and Powerpoint as well, but that is all I had available to test.

Unfortunately, I haven't backed up yet using Time Machine. I've only had the MB for about 4 weeks. There's nothing of real importance on it yet. Anything important is still in the cloud awaiting sorting out by myself.

Folks - you've all been so helpful with your suggestions. Really appreciated.

I believe there's another slightly different version of Sequoia RC due out either today or in the next few days. I'll get back the thread to see if that sorts anything out. If not, I'll have to go down the nuclear option.
