Help - iMovie crashes my mac when I export

Hi all
I have a new 13'' MBP (2012-model) that freezes when I export (cmd-e) an iMovie-video. Not every time; every second or so.

The OS freezes and I have to turn it down. No rainbow-disk - it just freezes completely.

Is this a known problem?

What to do???

Not even CMD+OPTION+ESC can help?
What exact export settings do you use? If you are unsure, you could make screenshots and attach them to your next post?

I use various settings - normally just the highest one available.

Is it possible to reinstall the program without reinstalling the entire OS?

What about backup of all the projects and so on. Will iMovie automatically reload these - or I have to backup manually?

You have to backup your projects before proceeding with the uninstallation. Either do it manually or let Time Machine do it and during uninstallation only look for iMovie on your Macintosh HD.
