HELP-iMovie not in dock after copy to ext drive

iMovie '09 mini with OS 10.6.4
I dragged the movie files over to Lacie external in order to relieve main HDD of large movie files and now even iMovie does not show up in the dock.

What did I do wrong?

1. Does external have to be connected and on to see iMovie?

2. Only had either raw or edited videos-no projects when this was done.

3. I seem to remember that iMovie icon was in the dock only a few days ago when I checked to make sure there were no events left in iMovie.

4. Any suggestions from iMovie '09 users?

Is iMovie still in the Applications folder?

Uf so, drag it back to the Dock.

Earlier I went to Applications and iMovie was there. So I tried to Dclick it to see if it would open. It gave me an error message about needing to download some weird software called quartz???.

I decided to turn that computer off and ask for help.

After your reply I turned it on and Voila-when I double clicked iMovie this time it opened up. So I quit it and then went back to applications and dragged it to the dock. It's there now. Just hope the events files are now on the external HHD.

Thanks for convincing me to go back and try it again today.
