I have two email accounts in mail. One is through my school and only lets me send mail if logged in through VPN. Thats fine except when I go to send mail, it automatically chooses that school account as the outgoing server. I would prefer my gmail account to be standard but don't know how to change it. I know that I can change it via the drop down box but I frequently forget and it takes a while for mail to realize that its not going to work. Any help would be much appreciated.

in Mail's preferences under Composing the default is to send emails from the selected account. you can change this to always be your Gmail account if you want.
but then your uni emails will always be sent with your Gmail. just make sure you have the email account selected in the Inbox sidebar tree that you want to send the email from.
