HELP Internet connection issue with MacBook.

We just moved state and got new Verizon FiOS service. We have two MacBooks in the house. Both find the new network fine but one automatically logs in and connects after its lid has been closed or it has been shut down, whilst the other requires multiple steps to get reconnected each and every time. Sometimes even if the lid is open but the computer has gone to sleep. It isn't a huge huge deal but it is plenty bothersome. The weird part is that there is a full quota of bars in the Airport thing at the top of the screen but there is no connection. I have to go into Network Preferences and then Assist Me and then enter the password and then it is fine. Thanks!
