Hello - I have searched and searched but my specific problem cannot be found. I have included some pics. Cydia wants to remove TaiG 8.1.3-8.x Unthether and will not allow anything else until that is done. I do not have ssh installed and cannot access what would be the root system on previous ios builds. Normally I would do a clean install and re-jailbreak but we know that is not an option at this time. Please help if you can! I really hope there is a solution to this. 9.1 seems to be taking some time.

Let me guess.
You updated from JB iOS 8 to ios 9.0.2 instead of doing a full restore with itunes.
Then you JB it using pangu?
I upgraded through iTunes not OTA but it was not a restore and update. It worked fine for a while and now this package wants to uninstall and Cydia doesnt want it to.

That's the problem.
You do not update a JB device.
You are supposed to fully restore to stock ios version with itunes and then you JB on the new ios version with the new JB tool.
What you and many others did is just update from JB to stock ios and then JB again. Trying to do it the fast and easy way.
No way to undo it now. You either leave it the way it is or restore to the latest ios version with itunes and wait for the next JB.
Hope others also see this and learn from it and also those that kept sayings its ok to just update instead of restoring to jb on the new version.
Many many issues like yours that could have been avoided if it was done properly.

If you were to manually delete the old TaiG untether files, do you think that will mess up the iPhone?

Since iOS 9.0.x jailbreak relies on the Pangu9 untether files to boot up, it seems like it might not be a problem

It could cause worse issues, conflicts or just get stuck and the phone not able to load again. The whole thing is messed up from the beginning being JB on ios 8 to updating a JB image to stock 9 and then rejailbreaking and reinstalling cydia and all applets again while the filesystem image is overwritten several times and ends up a complete mess.
I dont think its something that can be corrected without a full restore.
