"The Camera Connector features a USB interface. Just plug it into the dock connector port on your iPad, then attach your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included). iPhone 3G is not supported."

What am i doing wrong? pls help

I believe the intend you to use the Phone as a camera only. I have not tried mine on the iPhone 4S, will give it a go.

I know the VGA presentation dongle works.

Nevermind: i see you were trying to use it as camera. Will still check mine.

I was reading through the support discussions on Apple's website and it seems that if you are just persistent enough and keep trying, the Camera/Photos app on the iPad will eventually prompt you. It's odd that it's not working for you.

what do you mean by if you are just persistent enough? u mean it will only work if you keep unplugging/pluggin it until it starts to work?

EDIT- I just tried it on my friends white iphone 4 and it works fine it even works for transferring videos

but i cannot get it to work on my iphone 4S why will it work for the iphone 4 and not for the 4s?

I tried it today (exact same setup as you).... Got that same error message.... Took the iPad out of it's case because it still wasn't working / fitting quite right.... Still was getting an error message saying it's unsupported - then it wasn't doing anything.... Then I realised I was plugging in the camera connection kit the wrong way around.... THEN it worked...

So yeah, check what way around you have the camera connection kit ;)

my camera kit is not connected the wrong way.

i had it connected the same way for both the digital camera and my friends iphone 4. with the big piece connected to the ipad and the smaller usb cable attached...

this set up worked both for the digital camera and the iphone 4

but will NOT work with the iphone 4s...

when i plug my iphone 4s to the camera connection kit the photos app will open on the ipad but i cant see any of the photos from my iphone. only the photos that already exist on the ipad

when i do the same connection with my digi cam or iphone 4 the photos app opens AND i am able to see all the photos on each respective device.

helpppppp please

ive even updated all the software to make sure that everything matches

all devices are running on ioS 5.1.1

faulty unit?

Try another camera connection kit unit - I bought another one to test it and it WORKS FINE.

I can't tell you what is wrong on a hardware level, but I am certainly sending the original back.

Sorry to be thick I have been searching around. I have an iPhone 4s and and an ipad and camera connection kit. I would like to transfer photos to iPad from phone. What is the exact set up, do I hook the USB connector to the iPad then use charging cord to hook up iPhone ? Or hook the USB connector to iPhone? Any advice appreciated

Put the connector on the iPad, then use the normal connector cable for the iPhone & connect them. Or, you can use photo stream if you have it active on both devices and are using the same Apple ID on both devices.

Here here. Perhaps, 6 months on you have found the answer to your (and mine EXACT) problem? If so, pls let me know how to get the CCK to work when attempting to transfer photos from iPhone 4s to iPad- very frustrating!
Cheers.
