Yesterday i decided to get the new iOS update for my iPhone 5; iOS 6.1.
When i connected my iPhone the my computer it asked me if i wanted to update to the newest version, and so i did.

Eversince it has just been stuck on this image:

I have done some research and after what i could find, this is what a 'bricked' iPhone looks like. (Which comes when you JailBreak your iPhone.)
I have NOT Jailbroken my iPhone, and i find it weird that this is the image i get.

I would vey much love a solution that didn't require me to lose all of the content on the iPhone (things like pictures, contacts, etc.) to get it unlocked.

Well, your phone likely synced with itunes and backs it up each time you connect. So you should have a backup of your photos, contacts, etc. The only way to fix this problem is to try to get the phone into recovery mode or DFU and then reconnect it to itunes and restore.

Google how to put your phone into recovery mode or DFU, tons of videos and threads on this.
