This has happened for a long time and I just cannot figure it out. I have all Apple products. So when I transfer photos taken from my 5s to my Macbook, they are either sideways or upside down. What is causing this?

Sideways when you view them in iPhoto on your macbook? Or sideways/upside down when you share/send them to people?

If the former, I'm stumped. But if the latter, it's EXIF data and not all software reads it. I always find for best results I shoot landscape with the lens on the top.

Sideways when I view them in iPhoto or other places on my Macbook. Even when I hold the phone upright and press the icon on the phone, I never use the volume button when held in landscape.
