HELP!!! iPhone 7 Plus volume / ringer issue

Hi guys.

I purchased my iPhone 7 Plus around two weeks ago and generally things have been fine. However post iOS10.1 update, I've noticed the volume button up hasn't been working consistently. When it plays it I find the vibrate switch when clicked down, will start making the phone vibrate and crank up the volume to max with a single flick.

Is anyone else having these issues?! Any suggestions before taking it to apple geniuses?!

Update: I tried placing the phone in a case (official Apple silicon case) and it seemed to fix the issue for a while. Perhaps it's got something to do with the angle the buttons are pressed. I don't know. It's frustrating as I've booked a genius bar appointment. If it doesn't show a problem there it's not going to be plain embarassing.
