iPod touch HELP! iPod touch randomly goes to lock screen, and volume goes up and down

My second generation iPod touch randomly goes to the lock screen (where it says slide to unlock) and the volume is always all the way up or all the way down, like if I try to turn it up it goes all the way up and vise versa. Any help or advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated! The iPod is still under AppleCare.

You can restore it and see if that helps. and if that doesn't work, then take it to the Apple Store.
