I was recently installing the latest update for both iTunes and my iPod touch when I received an error. I didn't pay much attention to it, but then my iPod froze up. The next time I started iTunes, it forced me to restore the iPod. Now, the iPod touch is recognized in the devices on iTunes (and not with the name it used to have), but you can't do anything with it. When I click on it, I do not get the page with the tabs that allows you to sync. My other iPod still loads and syncs fine.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this? Or what I did that caused this - so I don't do it again? I don't have a way to back up my iTunes externally, so I'm hoping I don't have to uninstall it ...
