I've been using a MacBook Air M1 2020 for years. I used to use it all the time with an OWC USB-C dock, but less so for the last year or so because I became a more mobile user. The Dock died recently. I also got my hands on an OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock and used that until it died also recently. It was in use by another before that, and idle for a time before I got my hands on it. In the same time frame, I have killed two Cable Matters multiport hubs within, maybe, a couple of months. The last one still passes through power, but no data. When powered, the docks light the right lights up. The Hubs do not light their LED indicators.
Is there any way that my MacBook is killing these or is this certainly a run of bad luck?
Right now, I am without multiport and connecting to a couple of monitors at home via a USB-C to DVI then either a DVI to HDMI cable or DVI to DP cable. At work, I dug up a Thunderbolt display that had not been used for a while along with an adaptor to connect to the MacBook's C plug. All this seems to be working fine so far.
Thanks
