I have one of the new iMacs and the isight shows only black in photo-booth and records for 5 seconds and then stops without ever saving a file.

I heard some were having a problem but my isight worked to take several videos and pictures

I have tried to turn off and unplug for 10 minutes and still does not work

What should i do? THanks for you time.

Try creating another user account and check if the problem persists. If it works ok on another account, then its somthing to do with your current account and isight settings.

It works on another account, can you tell me what preferences to reset?

thanks again

my macbook exhibited the same thing after i did some software update: no video but audio was present. i remember resetting the PRAM or SMC and it worked after that. i just don't remember which one exactly i reset.

any chance for a quick tutorial, pram is mentioned several times and i do not know how to reset?

screwy, i held down Option+Command+R+P

and it jsut rest my computer in a continous cycle, the third start sound i let go

The isight did not show a picture in photo booth, still black.

It worked before,
and reseting the p-ram,
also attempted to unplug the hole imac

I think I am looking for some setting for isight page I can not find.

isight setting - ??? cuz i turned it off ?
