iPod touch help itouch 1.1.4

Help please.

I bought an itouch 8gb second hand of ebay. works fine. upgraded on first contact with itunes to 1.1.4. I do not have email, notes, maps etc. and cannot find where I can get them from. It would appear it was something to do with a january software upgrade which is no longer available. Does that mean that I will not be able to use these applications

the update should still be available on itunes, go here: https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/touchLandingPage and this should take you direct to the upgrade page (I cant test in work as they have disabled the iTunes store)
