I am trying to jailbreak my new iPhone. I can install the 1.1.1 firmware, but as soon as it reboots into that firmware, it says "iPhone not activated", the at&t logo goes away, and it can't be used as a phone. I can get to jailbreakme.com over wifi & install all the apps, but it won't re-activate without restoring to 1.1.2. I'm following the procedures on jailbreakme.com and elsewhere. what am i doing wrong?

Thanks

With the directions I posted, when downgraded, the iPhone will not receive an activation request until the iPhone is back on 1.1.2 (jaibroken or not) because of the updated baseband.

I see. So if I'm following the directions on your web site, I have to do step 2a (dial *#307#, etc) even though the phone has been previously activated w/iTunes. I guess if you're coming from 1.1.2, you always have to use step 2a? I'll try that, thanks.

No, you need to downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak with jailbreakme.com, install oktoprep, then update to 1.1.2 and rejailbreak.

if you are using Brando88's post start at step 3.
