Hi.

I got an (old) iPhone 3g running iOS 4.2.1 (firmware 05.15.04) with a dead power button.
I am desperately trying to jailbreak it but until now I had no successes because I can’t get the phone in DFU mode using the power button.

Can anyone help me?

An option is to use a jailbreak tool that instead of it using the iPhone's DFU mode to modify the firmware thats already on the phone, you could use a program that creates a jailbroken firmware file on your computer, use tiny umbrella to put the iPhone into recovery mode, then use iTunes (control+shift restore) to upload it to your phone, although iOS 4.2.1 is no longer being signed by apple, so that could pose an issue.... Tiny umbrella may put the phone into DFU mode as well. I can't remember for sure.
