help jailbreaking old 3g phone on 3.1.2

Hi,
I'm trying to jail break my old 3g iphone, on windows, running 3.1.2 I download RedSnow version 0.9.6rc8 and iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw
but whenever I run RedSnow and browse to the .ipsw file i just get an error saying "Unable to recognize specified IPSW"
Did I download the incorrect files? If anyone knows please let me know, I did not update my iphone 3g to iOS 4 because of the lag issues, so kept it on 3.1.2

Use Blackra1n to jailbreak it. It is simple and easy.

Spirit jailbreak tool runs well too for that firmware.

RS probably just doesn't support the older firmware anymore.

Spirit works too, but the phone needs to be activate or at least at home screen. It will not work if the phone at emergency screen.
