HELP: Jb/ul to 4.0 on 3GS

hi....i have an iphone 3GS 32GB running 3.1 jb/ul with Blackra1n,baseband 5.11.07(old bootrom)...i need help on following questions please:

1). how can i upgrade to 4.0?
2). if i upgrade will i have my baseband upgraded as well and then will i be able to find an unlock?
3). i've heard about the battery in 3GS almost draining too quickly after the upgrade,what to about that?
4). is it good for me to upgrade to 4.0

PLEASE anyone take some time to answer my questions as i am really confused what to do.Also mention the proper step by step way of jb/ul from 3.1 to 4.0 on my 3GS....will really be grateful....THANKS....

I honestly don't think you can upgrade your iPhone to iOS 4.0.0/4.0.1. The software -- that is ultrasn0w is designed specifically for older versions of the iPhone. If you truly wish to upgrade to iOS 4.0.0 or 4.0.1 you will probably need to restore to regular factory settings and unlock you iPhone with something that can be used with iOS 4, then again jailbreaking your iPhone again to work with iOS 4.0.0 or 4.0.1. If you feel like you don't want to go through this, you should just forget all about it and not even upgrade.

thanx alot for the links....by upgrade i actually meant jalibreaking to 4.0...and then unlocking it for any carrier....i mean i download a file of the firmware and then jailbreak it and after that unlock it....also i dint get ur point about the software ultrasnow in ur reply....i think i have the old iboot version

P.S....what if i use jailbreakme.com from my phone....what is the process for that?do i need to download the custom ipsw first and then use jailbreakme?
