Hi all,

I just updated to 10.5.7. All went well (I thought), but now when I try to launch Aperture I get "the installed graphics card doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Aperture"???

I have the ATI HD 3870 Card for Mac. This is not a card that comes with Mac Pro's from Apple.

Is there a way to bypass the graphics card check?

Thanks.

Doesn't help you much I'm sure, but this is why I wait a minimum of ten business days after Apple releases any update before I install it.

I'd check this thread:

It may be possible to write a kext (kernel extension) that allows the card to identify itself as a different card, fooling the check. Just an idea (haven't tried it), but with the custom ATI 4890 kexts that netkas wrote, it seemed like they could overwrite a lot of what the card reports to the system.

I have a 3870, not gotten from Apple, in a late 2006 Mac Pro.

After 10.5.7, Aperture opens normally -- so although I don't know what the solution to your problem is (and you didn't say what model Mac Pro you have) at least you now know the 3870 continues to function normally in at least one machine.

Are quartz extreme and CoreImage supported? (Check in system profiler).
That could be a driver problem.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I checked my system profile (see below) and Quartz Extreme and Core Image are not working so that is the problem.

Any suggestions on how I can fix it?

Thanks.
