Help - Kernel Panic, I can't use Airport - Alternative please !!!

Hi,

My beloved 6 1/2 years old ibook has experienced a kernel panic. I may not be able at the moment to log on to the internet unless I connect via wlan/ethernet. Is there any alternative to be able to use the internet wirelessly, perhaps via a USB device ??

i vote for quicky usb fix!

for what it's worth, if this is a 12" 1.33 or a 14" 1.42, then the airport board has come loose and is causing the KPs. i only point this out as i've fixed about a billion of these with the same symptoms.

if you don't mind the work of opening the ibook, then remove and re-seat the airport board, and you should be good to go. it may happen again down the road.

if you don't want to open the ibook, then disable airport in software, go with usb or cable, and you should also be good to go.

It is what I do now. I connect via ethernet with a cable!

I have also gotten used to push a tenth or eleventh
time the start button, whenever I want to turn the ibook
on.
