Help! Lion doesn't reboot after install

I loaded lion from the app store, and it has now hung on the grey apple screen with a rotating circle.

I've tried a option command p r reset, but no joy.

Any thoughts?

You might try restarting in Safe Boot mode. (Hold down the Shift key while restarting.) This may take a few minutes as a few diagnostics & repairs are done. Just be patient. You will need to enter your Admin password, so have that handy.

After your machine has completed the Safe Boot, restart normally.

Thanks, but I got a sliding bar up, but then just a return to grey screen

A few thoughts…

Have you tried actually shutting down and then restarting?

Can you connect to another Mac? I ask because it may help to redownload Lion. I have never had to go this route, so if that is required, let's hope others will chime in.

If you're near an Apple store, no doubt the gang there could put things to right.
