Help, lost my account!...sort of.

So I noticed my profile or whatever when I look in Finder that it said my name but without capital letters, or a space. So I figured I'd try putting it in, and it worked, I thought, hey, great. But then I tried to open up Safari and it was almost like it was a fresh user. So I then reset since I thought something may be wrong, and now it thinks I'm a new user more or less. It's back to being without a space, and non capital letters. I'm still the same user, but none of my application settings seem to be there. It's like a fresh install.

Any way to get that back? Or do I have to do all my settings again? I've tried logging in and out to no avail.

Have a look at this support document. Changing your user name, while it can be done through a lengthy process, is strongly frowned upon by Apple.

Thanks guys. Felt like a total idiot for a minute there. Note to self, don't change anything on the computer unless I'm sure of what it does.
