I need a little help with a boot camp load.
I have a 2009 Macbook pro, 10.6.8.
I've partitioned off some space for the boot camp. My new OS on this partition is Windows 7. All is well driver wise, until around the 3rd boot. After this every single launch freezes after a second or two, with a pop-up by the notification tray telling me drivers are being installed for IEEE 1394 (firewire port).
What happens is Windows 7 is trying to find and install a driver for my firewire port, "IEEE 1394". Once it starts to "install" this driver, my windows freezes. It gives me about 2 - 5 seconds until it switches from "searching" for the driver to "installing" it. Once it goes to installing, I'm stuck. Ive even reinstalled windows something in the excess of four times, trying to figure out what I can do.
I know what you're thinking - but during the first few boots that actually work, the IEEE 1394 driver doesn't show up in the device manager! Even safemode seems to have this problem (even command prompt safemode!).
Apparently, you can turn the driver off with windows BIOS, but there is no BIOS for mac.
I've been researching this for a little while know and Im at my wit's end, I dont want to go through ANOTHER windows install if I dont know I can fix this.
So any tips to help stop this? Suggestions on what to try? I'm positive the moment I can stop Windows from trying to install this it will work perfectly fine, like it was on the first few boots, but I dont know what I can do other than disabling all the USB ports under device manager, hoping that one is the missing IEEE 1395 device.
Thank you for any help you can give!
