I want to connect my Mac Pro 2009 to my Dell 2209WA monitor through HDMI switcher. Reason I do this is because I have other devices I want to use my monitor with (Wii U & PS3). I am connecting DVI output from my Mac Pro to HDMI switcher using DVI-to-HDMI cable from Amazon but looks like it doesn't really work. WHen I tried to do this, my monitor just goes black. It says it goes to power-saving mode.

Any body has any idea about this?

Does it work when you go straight into the monitor?

Does it show as anything in Graphics/Displays under System Information?
