I removed the HDD inside my Macbook black and was shocked to find that there's only 1 " ribbon cable" inside the HDD slot, instead of 2 as shown in

1) what's the function of this " ribbon cable"?
2) what will happen if there's only 1 instead of 2? will it affect my macbook? will it cause it to be non-functional ?

Are you replacing the hard driver on your MB? Just slide it in... nothing wrong with it.
 
That one cable is the SATA connector to the logic board. That is all that is needed. That one connector has the needed two separate connections for the hard drive.
