Hello
Im going to college in Augest. I plan to major in Education. I would use a laptop for the basics. Internet, papers, research, Aim, Msn. Macbooks seem nice but i cant decide what to do. My dad wants to give me his current laptop which i think is tobisha, which is nice but i want a new laptop I also think he just wants a new one.;) anyways, i dont know what to do. do you think the macbook is a good choice? I read a lot of reviews everywhere or talk to people and it seems anytime i hear a good review,i decide to get one, then i read or hear someone tell me there no good and rethink everything. I have never owned a mac and always hear people say how they switched to macs and love it.. please offer advice and help.
Thanks!

its a nice laptop but idk, i rather have something new. my mom said she would tell family to get me apple gift cards as a graduation gift so i assume that it would cover most of it if not all... but i cant decide....its driving me crazy....... when i went up to visit the school i found out they sell Dells and macbooks there so i assume those are the main laptops or its just what they have.. but idk what to do.

Go For The Macbook

Go for the Macbook. I'd buy the second-best. You won't regret it!!!!

Good luck!!

naw man...for what you need...the macbook is amazing. I guarentee you won't regret getting it. Maybe wait for an update if you don't like the "bullet proof" plastic.

As an employee of best buy in the computer department and an apple user I would have to say that I would go with apple. They are far more reliable than a toshiba and 10 times the performance than any operating system that windows has. I just switched not to long ago and I use my mac for college and basically the same stuff as you do and I would go back to windows. I'm just selling my macbook cause i am afraid at my school that it will get stolen easily so im getting a imac.

I've been a MacBook owner for a year and a half. Build quality could be better (i had the usual case cracking problems, etc). My next laptop will probably be a Thinkpad (Lenovo), I tested one for about a month and I was really satisfied, so I'd have to recommend that.

There are some better laptops than the MacBook out there, but in the end it's really all about OS X. If you want it, get a Macbook, if you don't - get something else.

My MacBook is going on 2 years and it's awesome. It's never given me a problem. It's an incredible laptop. From my websites, to my GarageBand compositions, to my iMovie and iDVD creations, my friends and family are always amazed at all the things I can do with this machine. I wish I switched to Apple 10 years ago! Leopard is the most amazing operating system ever. You won't regret making the switch.

OP, it sounds like you're having buyer's remorse and you haven't even bought the Mac yet! If you did the test drive at the Apple Store, they should have explained the 14-day return and a 10% restock fee, then you should be ready to purchase the #1 computer on this forum! Macs aren't for everyone, and we've been told to "stop twisting the noob's arms" 'cause the hospital bills aren't getting paid! :D:cool:

I maybe a bit biased, but don't take the toshiba. Toshiba, along with probably Acer are imo, bottom rung laptops. If you don't wish to buy a mac, look into a thinkpad or something from sony.

o man.. i dont understand. why am i having so much troble deciding what to get. i want a macbook, i do, but then i feel that i wont like it... ahhhhh im going crazy!!!!!!!

Take the free laptop and buy yourself an iMac.

You'll have portability and then also a more powerful desktop with a larger screen for when you don't need mobility.

Chill out, man. It's just a computer, it's not like you're deciding whether to get a liver transplant or not. Get a MacBook. If you don't like it, you can sell it for close to what you paid for it. Or return it. Although I seriously doubt that'll happen. But if you want to hear some EXTRA reasons to get a Mac: you know all that spyware/adware/virus bs that you have to deal with now on a pc? Well forget about it on a Mac. It just doesn't exist, period! :D

Once I went Mac, I never went back. And that was almost TWENTY years ago as a college freshman myself! Seriously, dude. You're making this wayyyy too hard. Just get a MacBook and move forward with your life. There's too much other fun stuff you could be concerning yourself with right now. Go live your life. Be confident and have fun. Do it all on your trusty Mac. The world is your oyster.
