Hey everyone! I have a 13.3" White Macbook that was purchased back in august of 06. I had a 60gig hard drive which failed on my this past weekend (i did some research and I think I had one of the faulty ones). Since then I have installed a new Western Digital 250 gig Hard drive. About a month before my hard drive went i was having random shut downs very frequently probably 4-5 times a week. After I got a new HDD i came here to read up on the issue and a lot of people were saying that random shut downs were a known 'symptom' of an upcoming hard drive failure.

Well it's been 5 days since I installed a new one and i just had a random shut again. my battery power was at 60%. My battery health is 42% with 310 cycles. Could this just be a fluke because my battery is going down hill or is this a serious issue that i should look into? I have all my things backed up but its just that I dont have the money to shell out for another repair.

Thanks!

I posted that earlier today and got some really good advice from some people (thanks again) But I'm being told that I might need to replace the Logic Board on my macbook. Does anyone out there know how much one would cost ( i know the apple store will rape my wallet). And can anyone offer anymore advice??

Also one thing i forgot to mention was that when I open my computer from sleep mode there is a loud hissing sound/pshhhhhh sound. ...any help on that issue and the above will be greatly appreciated!

You can get a Logic Board on ebay, for a few hundred dollars.

iFixit.com has it for between $550-$650.

As for the sound thing, that is the optical drive doing its... something. Mine does the same thing.
