I'm looking to purchase a new MacBook Pro, and I'm weighing two different options, I'd appreciate any help! My choice is between the new 2018 13" MacBook Pro 2.3GHz i5 Quad-Core with 8GB of 2133 MHz RAM. Or a "new" (somehow still?) 2015 15" MacBook Pro 2.2GHz i7 Quad-Core with 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L.

This computer will be used to compose and produce music. Some software I use is sample-based, which I'm told is RAM intensive, though it's never been a problem for me on lesser computers. Any thoughts?

EDIT: I should mention, both options cost about the same, almost to the dollar.

Would most likely recommend the 2015 model. You'll appreciate the larger screen when you're not connected to an external monitor. I use an older 2013 model (i7 16gb RAM) for Ableton and Logic. The extra ram will help a lot when projects start getting intense.

If you were able to bump up the ram on the newer model to 16gb, then it would be a little harder to choose.

Hope this helps!
