Help! MacBook Pro crashes when iPhone 5 is plugged in.

I purchased my MacBook Pro in 2010, and just recently upgraded to mountain lion. Since then my computer crashes randomly (when I plug my iPhone 5 in, when I select compose email on an email client in safari, etc). I wasn't having these problems before installing, and now I'm so frustrated! I have backed up my computer, erased everything, reinstalled mountain lion and OS X, and have had no success! Any ideas out there as to what may be going on?? -L
