Updated to Yosemite about a week ago. All was working fine. I have a mid 2010 macbook pro 13". When I power up the screen comes on and the chime however it will not type the password in and the trackpad is not working. Any thoights??

Try holding ⌘ +R when booting to get to Internet Recovery. If the trackpad and Keyboard work there, its software. If not, its a hardware issue.

Then you could try reinstalling OS X.

A screen came up that asked if keypad was not working to turn fire vault off. I have not acceded fire vault for a while?? What could cause this. Is it better to leave fire vault off??
