Help MacBook stuck!

I have a MacBook Pro. I booted it and I left it alone for a few minutes. When I came back the screen was a sleep. I tapped the trackpad and the screen came back. But all I see is the apple logo and a progress bar below it. Why do I see the loading screen when the mac was already booted? The progress bar is not moving. It's just stuck. How do I fix this?

Turn it off and on again.

^Yes, sounds like you just need to do a restart...power off by button if necessary.
