GSOD explanation
Hello! I've owned 3 drives from OCZ: 2x Agility 2 240GB and 1x Vertex 3 240GB. One of the Agility 2s died within a month and the other died within a week. The Vertex 3 I have not begun using, yet, and would like some help.
First, are my two Agility 2 drives just bad? After having done all of the suggestions on Apple's page, I swapped out the drives to another computer and they still didn't work. When plugging in new drives to my computer, they worked just fine. Proof that the drives are bad, not the laptop.
Second, what is the best way to install from a backup: a) Install a fresh copy Snow Leopard, upgrade to Lion, then use the Migration Assistant to move my data or b) use Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to move my data (and OS) from my backup onto the SSD?
Third, I would like to run Windows, too. Does Boot Camp (and it's partitioning) break things? I can install Windows in one of 4 ways, which is best: a) Windows 7 Boot Camp, b) Windows XP Boot Camp, c) Windows 7 VMWare Fusion, or d) Windows XP VMWare Fusion?
Fourth, I've been installing the drive by turning the laptop off, unplugging it from the wall, unscrewing the case and the old drive, then screwing in the new drive, and putting the lid back on. Since I have a Unibody, should I be disconnecting the battery too? Does this matter? The drives die later (after use), not right on installation.
I really would like to have a functioning SSD in my MacBook Pro and I cannot find any info on how to make it not GSOD (if it's even something that can be avoided).
Help, please!
