I've had my MBP for 3 years coming up and its starting to show its age. I dont have much space left on my HD and the system starts get get bogged down running my basic tasks (mail, skype, itunes, Vuze, and safari).
I dont want to spend more than 1400, but I think apple offers a military discount or I may be able to custom order one from the BX.
heres what I use it for.
- Basic web browsing and mail
- Video Editing would be a huge part. I'm dealing with AVCHD.
- Movie streaming and downloading
- of course music and photos
- Word processing, student work
- I do not do any gaming
I've got my mind set on a 21.5" display because I'd like to use the 52" tv as a separate monitor to watch movies.
With that being said do I need the 3.33 GhZ processor over the 3.06 or the 8GB of SDRAM over 4GB?
maybe most importantly Do I need to get FCE over imovie '09 (maybe '10)? My editing is amateur at best. All I would really need to do is add some basic effects and music as well as trimming footage. however, once again I am dealing with AVCHD so anything I use will need to be transcoded into AIC. can imovie accomplish this?
