I got a surprise email last night and it looks as if I'll be receiving delivery for my Mac Pro as early as this morning. Which has made me frantically look into external storage solutions and I think I want to invest in a NAS.
I used all four bays in my old Mac Pro to store my media and work and use a variety of Photoshop/Illustrator and text editors on a daily basis. I also have my media library split across these drives and serve media up to a variety of Mac's/iOS devices and Apple TV's over the local network using Plex.
I'm currently looking at Synology, Drobo and Promise's offerings and trying to make up my mind which one to go for.
The Drobo and Promise boxes look appealing because of the Thunderbolt 2 support. Will this make a huge difference?
That said, I do prefer the way the Synology's look and generally I think the interface looks better. I also think Synology have a Plex server that runs on their NAS'.
Can anyone point me in the right direction based on my needs or share their experience with the NAS drives that are currently out there.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
