Hey there,
I am in the market for new MacBook.
I play only one game - retail WoW and I am wondering if perhaps I could save money and go for base model M4 MacBook Pro over M4 Pro. I had the chance to see WoW running on M3 Pro MacBook and it seem decent enough (struggled a bit in some locations) but I have no idea how much performance difference is there between M3 Pro and M4.

I guess there is not much difference between 14’ and 16’ except for cooling and display size, is there?

I just want WoW to run nicely, all other tasks are not a problem for any Mac. The question is if base model of MBP would be enough, perhaps better somehow than M3 Pro.

Thanks for opinions..
(I really don’t have a budget, just want to save as much as I can while still having a laptop that runs wow smoothly)

Well I play Diablo III fully maxed out and no issues, but if you want to play like Resident Evil 4 Remake go with the MBA M4 2025 with no issues. That's what I'm going to have with my M1 Trade for 24/512

Besides the improvements to ray tracing with the M4 SoCs, there wouldn't really be any improvement going with the base M4 over the M3 Pro. Looking at the Geekbench Mac charts, the M3 Pro is comfortably ahead of the base M4 in the Metal benchmarks (69289 for M3 Pro, 57487 for M4), and similar performance gains in the OpenCL benchmark as well.

I don't think either system would bottleneck you while playing WoW given the overall age of its game engine and how far back compatibility still goes.
