If you had 1600$ for a new laptop for cs degree in college, what would you buy?

the difference is only 30 bucks so i dont mind about that...

I would go with the more powerful retina. The Air is a great machine but the screen and power of the retina is in another level. If you can wait I would say hold off until the new haswell retina macbook pro comes out possibly tomorrow.
