Help me decide: 27in 2012 refurb or 2013 new?

Sorry for another one of these threads.

The 21.5 isnt an option because of the RAM upgrade inability.

I just need a 27in iMac for the most basic needs. Basic photo editing for family/new baby pictures. Some simple video editing of video camera movies and iphone movies. etc.

Really dont need Fusion.

So is there any huge difference in product or performance between the late 2012 27in Refurb or the new 2013 27in.

After tax on Apple, the refurb will cost me $1529. On amazon, tax free, it is $1790. Is it worth the extra $250? Or use that $250 to buy myself the superdrive, applecare, etc.

Get the 2012 refurb and save the money. The base model will do you just fine.

If you are going with an HDD and not SSD, the 2012 refurb is fine.

Yeah, I'm going HDD.

But I can later boot from an external SSD via thunderbolt or uSB3, right?
