I’m a student and I was considering buying Macbook for a long time. I have a really powerful PC for gaming and demanding tasks but I need a laptop because I spend more time away from home. My first option was new Macbook Pro 13 (without touchbar, I don’t really find it useful and it costs alot more. With this new 8th gen intel upgrade they seem like really good option, but I don’t have that large budget), second option is used Macbook Pro 13 2015 or Macbook Pro 15 2012/2013 (depends on what is available). Any help, opinion, though would be appreciated. If you have used all three, could you write which one you found is the best. Thanks

Keep in mind they didn't actually update the MacBook pro without TouchBar this time so I would recommend waiting until September/October if possible as it's rumoured they'll update it then (or replace it).

If you need it now are you able to get a student discount? I'd still be tempted to go with the current MBP without TouchBar instead of the older used 2015 model.

Ok, thanks. I would buy those in September anyway. Do you really think they will upgrade non touchbar models, or just drop the pro name and sell it as is with Macbook 12. Completely removing Air from lineup.

As said, I would wait until they update the non Touch Bar model when the chips become available. If they don't update it then, they are phasing it out.

It seems that the latest rumours suggest the new MacBook might indeed more similar to the MacBook 12 inch and the Air might actually be dropped as you mentioned, meaning there could still be room for the MacBook Pro without TouchBar (as it's commonly regarded as the actual MacBook Air replacement anyway). I suppose you never know - the rumoured new low cost MacBook could end up being the machine you'll want.
