This is really stupid, but the computer + monitor I have right now doesn't feel like a "real" Mac to me. I have a Mac Pro and an Asus monitor, but it just feels like a PC. I don't know why I feel that way, and it's stupid because it almost makes me regret getting this and selling my original iMac but at the same time I don't. I don't know. Please tell me someone else has felt this way so I don't seem crazy.

Someone else has felt this way.
:p

I have a Power Mac with a Viewsonic monitor. Doesn't feel like a PC to me. Actually, I don't even want an Apple monitor. So, get over it. ;)

best thing you can do is see if anyone on here using a 24" iMac wants to do a straight swap for your MP & Monitor, you can get back to feeling like your on a proper Mac again, I use a MP & Samsung (30") monitor, it feels pretty much like any other Mac to me...........but bigger

Or is it you was used to the 'all in one' feel of the iMac and the MP just feels like any other desktop:confused:........................except it's special you know ;) it's a bloody MP, Sit the gorgeous aluminium case on the desk so you can see it, doesn't feel different just makes you smile when you see it, now get over it, and carry on using it without these weird thoughts :p

Hope you get over it. A lot of people are attaching their MB (Pro/Air) and Mac Pros to non-Apple displays.

I'm using a 19" HP monitor and it doesn't feel PC-ish to me.

Get over yourself.

Honestly, why does it matter? If you were using a PC, would you think less of yourself or your circumstances? There are far bigger things to fuss over.

At first I thought you were a flat out nutter but I guess I know what you mean. I use an external Dell monitor for all my macs at home (MB and iMac) as the main display, in XP I turn off the iMacs display and use the Dell exclusively.

But it doesn't change affect me in any way. I notice it but nothing more.

I knew this no tallent bi**h of a photographer who used 23" cinemas on windows computers. I thought that was sad.

It's not stupid at all. It would make the same effect to me too. It just doesn't "feel" like a Mac.
Get yourself an Apple Display....:D or just get used to the Acer monitor.

I don't want to defend the guy, but...

The 23" ACDs have IPS displays vs. the TN you typically find in cheaper monitors. Here is a link to a Wikipedia article that discusses the differences between TFT LCD display types.

The bottom line is that photographers, etc. need the most accurate color representation possible, even Windows users. :p

Whether that's overkill for everyone else is something only your wallet can say...
