Hello!
I just installed Lion on my MacPro and now the whole screen set-up is messed up!

When I boot up the usual sound comes on and then the Apple Logo. Then the apple Logo disappers and the grey backdrop remains!

Here's the odd thing. If I type my login password and press return the computer logs in!

But when I get to the desktop, the desktop is blank. Just a space picture. The computer desktop is there but not visable!

Can someone help me? Do I need to re-install???

Thanks

I did give that a go. However all I get is the patchwork pattern screen and nothing else. Any other ideas at all? Thanks very much though

Do you use an external monitor? I've had my Mac in the past "forget" which monitor was supposed to show the login screen.

If you have one available, use another computer or mobile device to log into your Mac via VNC and see if the screen shows up OK that way; then you might be able to mes with some settings that would get you going. You might also try booting up with your hardware repair disks, in safe mode.
