So I run a couple private jets for rich people. In one of my jets I’ve been using a 1st gen IPad Pro. I think it’s from 2020. I don’t ever look into these things I’m not that hard core on the tech. I don’t care about camera or speed really. I mean the processing power is nice but for me it’s battery life and screen.

What we do is have Ram Mounts that suction cup the things to the windshield. It’s awesome and a welcomed change from paper charts we use to use at the airlines. Instead of 40lbs of books I have one tablet, fantastic. My older one tends to run through battery a little more. When flying we have GPS on and generally WiFi so weather radar and weather at our destination airports is updated. We use a program called ForeFlight that has all of our charts and live maps. The issue is that generally after a while of flying and being mounted on the window the thing heats up and dims the screen hard. Also the battery isn’t the healthiest anymore.

Talk to me like a grandparent here lol (I’m 43 just saying). Do the newest IPads have a brighter screen? Are they like my MacBook Pro where I can run VIVID or some other app to get the max brightness out of it and not just HDR when watching a movie? I’m looking to buy 3 new ones for the cockpit, we don’t use them for anything but work, and frankly performance has never once been an issue so it’s all about the screen really. I don’t care about 120hz but want the on that can get and stay the brightest which to me means the newest because I’d assume the cpu generates less heat and will contribute less to it dimming.

Thanks for the info!

As for brighness
The 2024 iPad Pro has a significantly brighter display, using tandem OLED technology to achieve 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness and1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness
. In contrast, the 2020 iPad Pro, which features an LCD screen, has a maximum SDR brightness of 600 nits. This makes the 2024 model's display a major upgrade, offering much deeper contrast, more vivid colors, and superior performance for HDR content compared to the older model.
