iPad mini Help me pick an iPad Mini 7 case

I can't decide on which case to get. I typically get thin cases, but I could see myself using the Mini 7 in an environment where a more rugged case will come in handy. The problem is that will a rugged case make the Mini harder and less comfortable to use? What would you do?

I'd wait about 4 weeks, so that rapid-response case-making entrepreneurs have a little time to roll out their "new" iPad mini 7 cases. Then you will have endless variety of types, colors, feature sets vs. the very few available when Apple releases anything new.

And focusing purely on your description: I'd get 2 cases for 2 different environments... much like winter clothes vs. summer clothes. Change your 7's "clothes" when you are going to change environments.

If you want a rugged case, ZUGU makes a great one. It is a little heavy (but not as much as you might expect) and a little bulky, but it’s very protective. I especially like the multi-position magnetic stand that is very sturdy.

I carry mine out and about at our camp when I’m checking cameras and operating equipment. I’ve put ZUGU cases on my 2021 iPP 11” (replaced by 2024 iPP 11” with magic keyboard), my Air 13”, and my Mini 6. I have also gotten them for a couple of Air 4 used by family members.

Downside is that there are only black, blue (pretty denim blue), and berry (purple but not royal purple). I ordered one for my Mini 7 since it looks like there’s no physical difference between the 6 and 7.

Curious what color apple case people went with for the blue mini- I’m torn- not interested in spending $60 for a case but eBay has some oem ones for like $30… torn between the white (will it get filthy?) and the electric orange.

I really like my electric orange which I had on my 6 and now my 7, its not worn at all. I do like the new denim blue though....

I'm probably going to go for a leather case. I just need to decide if I wan't a pencil for it or not...

With a pencil, the relatively cheap DTTO case.

Without a pencil, I can spend a bit more on a TORRO case.

Neither are particularly rugged, but both should withstand some abuse...
