My iPhone 3GS was restored and I lost the software unlock and jailbreak that came on it. I bought it used and it was already unlocked (not my doing). It was previously using an older iOS (4.0 I think), but now its updated to 6.1.3, and has the newest firmware... Phone service won't work anymore because its locked to a Canadian carrier (Rogers) and I can't even get past the activation stage, because I don't have a Rogers SIM card.

NOT interested in spending $100+ on an unlock service, because the phone was only $70 to start with. And Rogers won't do it because I'm not the original contract owner of the phone. I called, they said NO.

So, what options do I have?

Is there ANY way to get this iPhone unlocked and working again? Apart from spending money? Maybe a downgrade, or hack somehow? Jailbreak doesn't matter to me so much as the unlock.

Thanks in advance.

You've ever heard Gevey SIM?

This could be your solution. But i cant confirm, that Gevey will work with all Modem Basebands. Please google it.

Finally used Gevey for iPhone 4 ohn ios 6 and it worked.

What's the first five digit of the serial number? That'll determine if you have a way to software unlock again

First five digits are: 88027

So 2010, 27th week, right?

What comes next?

I believe that is possible (make sure by searching online before going through with the process just to be safe!)

let's say that it's compatible

you would update to the ipad baseband, and then downgrade from the ipad baseband using redsn0w

after that, you'll have a baseband/modem firmware of 5.13.04. jailbreak and install ultrasn0w and you'll have an unlocked device
