help me please!!

so my macbook pro was working fine this morning, i was using it like normal. then i turned it off as i wasnt using it. i tried to turn it on like half an hour later and the startup took ages and then when it finally went to my home screen, it didnt work. it said that finder had to close and then it wouldnt respond. ive tried to restart it and now its on my home screen but the bar across the top is missing and the only thing i can open is dashboard. any ideas of what i should do?? thanks heaps

First off you might want to try posting with a more descriptive title, that way people can help you better.
Anyways, try starting up in the built in safe mode by holding down the shift key after you press the startup button until the computer is started up. If it works, let us know...
