Yes os appears in the Dashboard and the launchpad

On my iMac under 10.10.1 the launchpad and email etc all are some what transparent and show my home screen image vaguely
not a problem--just a feature

I think he's talking about those purple dots like right below the "2"

I suspect these dots are part of the blurred background, since they only appear in the dashboard and launchpad mode. As long as they do not appear withing regular applications I would not worry.
