Hello everyone,
So I'm creating a travel blog (I'm moving to Istanbul, Turkey) and I plan on having photos and videos on this site... I am an avid photographer with an SLR, but I'm thinking of using a new approach for this site. I am thinking of shooting my video with the Panasonic TZ7 point and shoot camera that can do 720p HD video along with take reasonably good photos while fitting into my pocket. The advantage would be that I could constantly have this camera with me and I could easily take very candid shots that might not be possible with a larger slr or video camera. I have a 2.4ghz macbook pro with 2GB ram, final cut express, and a 200GB Hitachi Travelstar 5400 rpm drive that came stock with my computer.
My current plan is to get the following to set me up for this project:
A) Panasonic TZ7 camera: $400
B) 500 gb 5400 rpm seagate momentus hard drive ($90)
C) 4gb of ram ($40)
Would you recommend a different setup? Specifically, I was planning on using the seagate drive as my main hard drive and using my current drive as a new scratch disk. Should I instead invest in a larger format hard drive that I can use as my scratch disk (in other words, is the bottleneck in the computer's hd or the scratch disk)? Are there better cameras out there for my purpose that may save me some $$$? Again, I'm a good photographer but this is my first foray into video. Any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated...
