hi

Thanks to you all in helping me to choose
Between 13, ans 15’ 2018 macbookpro : It will be the 15’ !
Now could you help me determinate with configuration i should take for my needs :
- Web dev Php / Mysql / Html / Jquery
- lots of adobe Cc softs photoshop mainly and illustrator
- gaming
- lots of rétrogaming !!!

Thank you in advance

Can't go wrong with the base configs, they're tuned to be best for most. You'd probably want 512GB SSD and the upgraded GPU. Either upgrade the stock 15" or grab the top of the line stock 15".

Sadly they don't sell 15 foot MacBooks.

The processor choice won't make much of a difference. The base 2.2 should be fine. 16 GB of RAM will be fine for your needs. Upgrading the graphics card is a relatively cheap upgrade, and will improve gaming performance, but probably not by a whole lot.

As far as SSD goes, that's up to you. 256 GB may be fine if you don't need a lot of space or you're fine buying external storage (which is cheaper). You may feel better with more breathing room than that though, and upgrading to 512 GB is reasonable. Beyond that though, the storage upgrades get really pricy, and for my uses it becomes hard to justify them.

Thanks !

What the i9 good for (except vidéo)?
Does It help in games ?

Other question : i always plug my actual 2013 MBA to my Imac (screen Share mode) : will It work with 2018 MBP (Thunderbolt 2 / 3)?

If money isn’t an issue, I’d spec out the machine. Max RAM 32GB, i9, 560X GPU and a 4TB SSD. or the 2TB would do as well. I’d get this for the most performance even if the difference in performance is only 8-10%. Maybe, just maybe, more tuning will be done and might get a little better.

I know what you saw. Although, 15 foot MacBook Pro with an 8 display would be a great fit for an Apple TV.

Don't even bother with i9, or even i7 2.6. all 3 version will likely boost up to same speed when all 6 cores are stressed.

I'd sat Macs are not particularly good at gaming and the GPU provided is rather anemic, especially compared to what other companies provide, then there's the software side, and you have more games available for windows then macOS. Look at the Razer Blade, its a 15" laptop, running the same CPU as the Mac, but also uses a 1070 Max-Q and the benchmarks on that bad boy is impressive.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you think this is a gaming machine. As for the other stuff the base with 512GB should do just fine. That's what I have.

Ok . Does someone get a benchmark of 2 or 3 of those for Webdev? Thanks
Do benchmarks even exist for web development? I think any laptop in 2018 will crush any web dev you throw at it. The 13" model now has a quad core processor and so it should be more then up to the task, computationally. The limiting factor is the smaller display which for me, is a show stopper. The 15" has 6 cores, and a large display, I can't think of any task that the MBP cannot do.

Just one - satisfy everybody on the Internet.
