Hi folks,

i am planning to use the imac for

-composing music with logic
-watch a dvd once in a while
-watch tv
-check my emails and basic office applications

i might occasionally use the imac for
-games (only if it's possible, i don't care that much about fancy 3d graphics)

i am not planning to use the imac for
-photoshop

Thanks for your help

The entry level iMac would probably suit most of your needs fine, although you would want to get more RAM than the standard 1GB. At least 2GB minimum, but 4GB would be ideal. If you're considering some gaming then the next step up (with 256MB video card) would be worth it if it fits within your budget.

As the above poster said, I think you would be pretty happy with a 256 RAM video card and about 2 GB of RAM. Because you mentioned that the most intense thing that you might be doing is composing music, I see no need to upgrade to 4 GB of RAM. Therefore, I think your best bet is either the 20-inch 2.66 GHz or 24-inch 2.8 GHz model, depending on how big of a screen you want.
